Privacy Statement

At Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, we are committed to protecting the privacy of all visitors to our website. Please read the following to find out about our practices regarding the collection, use and disclosure of your personal information on our website.

Information we collect

In operating our website, we may collect and process the following data about you:

  • Details of your visits to our website and the resources that you access
  • Information you provide by filling in forms on our website, such as job application forms, Freedom of Information requests and ‘Contact us’ forms etc.
  • Information provided to us when you communicate with us for any reason

Any personal information you send to us through our website will be collected and stored only for the use it was intended. For example, if you use our feedback form to submit a concern or complaint, we will use the contact details you provide to get in touch and discuss with you the best way to deal with the matter.

Third-Party Sharing

If you are successful in an application with us, as part of our recruitment and pre‑employment screening processes, we are required to carry out Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks for roles that involve regulated activity or meet the eligibility criteria set out in the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 and associated legislation.

To complete these checks, we work with an external third‑party DBS processing provider. This provider acts as a Data Processor on our behalf and supports us in verifying your identity, submitting your DBS application, and receiving the outcome of the check.

The personal data shared with our DBS provider may include your full name, previous names, date of birth, contact details, address history, nationality, identity documents and other information required under DBS legislation. The provider processes this information strictly in line with UK GDPR, NHS data protection standards, and their contractual obligations with us. They do not use your data for any purpose other than completing the DBS check.

Once the check is completed, we receive only the information necessary to assess your suitability for employment (for example, whether the certificate contains information). We do not retain a copy of the full DBS certificate, in line with DBS Code of Practice requirements.

For more information about how your data is processed as part of a DBS check, please refer to the DBS Privacy Policy: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/dbs-privacy-policy
